Credentialing and Eligibility for Gulf Health Authorities

It is the check a health authority makes of your documents before it licenses you: your education, your registration and your experience. For Abu Dhabi the documents go through Primary Source Verification.

They are the names different authorities use for this step. The Dubai Health Authority calls it eligibility. HAAD, the Ministry of Health, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain call it credentialing or the credential.

The DHA in Dubai, HAAD (DOH) in Abu Dhabi, the Ministry of Health of the UAE, Saudi Arabia in two stages, and Bahrain, for MBBS doctors, specialist doctors, dentists, nurses, pharmacists and paramedical staff.

It depends on the authority. For MOH, credentialing is the first step, then Dataflow, the exam ID activation and the exam booking. For DHA the Sheryan account comes first; then you can do the exam or Dataflow first, whichever suits you, and the eligibility process gives you the eligibility certificate once both are done. You then find a job, and your employer's HR activates the licence. For Saudi Arabia, Dataflow is the starting stage, then the eligibility or classification, the exam, and the licensing and credentialing from the employer. We tell you the order for your case.

It links your credentials with the exam system of the Ministry of Health. Your exam ID has to be activated before the exam slot can be booked.

For Abu Dhabi (DOH, earlier HAAD) the exam step is valid for six months from approval. If you do not sit the exam in that time, the application closes and has to be opened again (reactivation). For Saudi Arabia, the exam eligibility number is valid for three months from issue. We check your case and prepare it with you.

The DHA registration certificate, often called the eligibility letter, is valid for one year. DHA allows renewal from three months before to three months after it expires. An expired or cancelled one cannot be renewed: the application starts again. We renew it with an updated Good Standing Certificate and experience certificate.

MOHAP states five years, as long as there is no gap in your experience. Your employer applies for the licence with it.

SCFHS registration is valid for two years. Renewal opens three months before it expires, and a late fine is issued from 31 days after expiry. SCFHS does not publish the amount on its pages, so we confirm it for your case. A registration expired for more than a year counts as a new registration, so if yours expired long ago, ask SCFHS whether you need a new professional registration. Our team notes that SCFHS asks for 20 CME hours for technicians, 40 for specialists and pharmacists, and 60 for doctors.

Once the qualification is linked, you continue with Professional Classification, the eligibility and exam, and Professional Registration.
