Dataflow (mandatory, 35 working days by OMSB's standard), the OMSB exam at Pearson VUE (100 questions, pass mark 60%, no maximum attempts), then your employer files the equivalency and the licence.

In Oman, nurses are classified by the Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) before the Ministry of Health or another employer licenses them. The OMSB exam is taken at Pearson VUE. This guide sets out the steps.

The steps

  1. Dataflow

Verification is mandatory for qualifications from outside Oman. You apply to DataFlow yourself. OMSB's standard is 35 working days from payment.

  2. The OMSB exam at Pearson VUE

The Occupational Classification exam. For nurses: 100 questions in 2 hours 30 minutes, pass mark 60%, results e-mailed within 24 hours.

  3. Classification and licence

Employers use the OMSB classification exam for licensing. Your employer files the equivalency of your certificates with OMSB.

Who can sit the nursing exam

OMSB's exam booklet for nurses asks for a Bachelor's degree in nursing from a recognised college. It does not mention diploma nurses: tell us your qualification and we check what OMSB accepts for you.

Oman takes the MEA Apostille, not embassy attestation, for Indian documents. See Oman MEA Apostille.

The exam

  • At Pearson VUE, not Prometric.
  • No maximum number of attempts, Pearson VUE's OMSB page says.

See Oman exam booking and Oman (OMSB) coaching.
