The whole NMC process, and where we fit
For nurses and midwives trained outside the UK, from nmc.org.uk.
Step 1: Eligibility and qualification
The NMC checks your qualification and contacts your council to verify your registration.
Step 2: CBT
Part 1 of the Test of Competence, a computer-based test at a Pearson centre.
Step 3: Registration application
Health, character and English: IELTS 7 in reading, listening and speaking and 6.5 in writing, or OET B and C+.
Step 4: OSCE
Part 2 of the Test of Competence, at a test centre in the UK.
Step 5: Decision
The NMC aims to decide within 30 days of a complete application.

The ultimate goal of NMC UK third-party verification is migration to the UK. Above all, the council must confirm your identity and background before allowing you to immigrate to the UK; NMC verification is required for it. With the assistance of a third-party organisation, the procedure entails verifying the nurses' personal, educational, and background information. Nurses will be able to proceed with the migration procedure only after this.
