What NNAS asks of your council
The National Nursing Assessment Service (NNAS) is where internationally educated nurses (RN, LPN and RPN) start for most Canadian provinces. Its advisory report then goes to the nursing regulator you choose.
NNAS needs a form from the authorities that issued your first and current nursing licences. You print the form from your NNAS account, fill in your part and send it to your council. The council completes it and sends it directly to NNAS: NNAS does not accept it from you.
For most Indian nurses the first licence is the home state council, such as KNMC. If you later registered with another council or abroad, that authority may hold your current licence. Your NNAS account shows the forms your application needs.
Good to know
From NNAS and ICES.
Sent by the council, not by you
NNAS takes most documents from third parties: the council sends the form directly.
12 months to complete
All documents must reach NNAS within 12 months, so request the council's form as soon as you have it.
ICES is about your education
ICES evaluates your degree or diploma. It asks for no good standing document: your university or nursing board sends the academic documents.
Translation
Documents not in English or French must be translated. NNAS charges for translation on its expedited service.
