ICES, International Credential Evaluation Service (BCIT)

ICES (BCIT) Evaluation for Indian Degrees and Nursing Diplomas

ICES, the International Credential Evaluation Service at BCIT, evaluates your Indian education for Canadian immigration and for work, study and licensing. It takes your mark cards only from your university, or from the board you studied under, sent straight to ICES. We take your request to the university or board, follow it up until it is sent, and keep you updated on WhatsApp.

  • Sent by your university or board
  • Fee confirmed before you start
  • Updates on WhatsApp

Notice: Trueway provides independent documentation support and is not affiliated with any council, embassy or government authority.

Who needs an ICES evaluation?

Anyone with an Indian degree or diploma who has been asked for ICES.

  • Canadian immigration

ICES issues the Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) for immigration to Canada.

  • Nurses

NNAS is among the organisations that use ICES. If you studied nursing under a board, the board sends your documents.

  • Work, study and licensing

An ICES general evaluation is for employers, schools and licensing bodies in Canada.

How we handle it

Who does what, from your first message to the ICES report.

  1. Step 1: Tell us your university and course

    You

The degree or diploma, the university or board, and whether the evaluation is for immigration or for work, study or licensing.

  2. Step 2: We send your checklist and the fee

    Trueway

On WhatsApp, for your university or board. You decide after you have seen them.

  3. Step 3: We take the request to the university or board

    Trueway

A degree's mark cards come from the university, a diploma's from the State Board of Technical Education, and a board-run nursing course's from that board.

  4. Step 4: The university sends it to ICES

    Authority

By mail, or by email from its own university address. We follow it up and update you on WhatsApp.

  5. Step 5: ICES evaluates it

    Authority

ICES contacts you if it needs a translation or anything more.

What ICES needs, and who sends it

From ICES's requirements and its page for India.

  1. Step 1: You apply and upload

Your ID, and a colour copy of the front and back of each final award and each mark card.

  2. Step 2: The university or board sends the records

Directly to ICES, by mail or from a university email address. One method only, not both.

  3. Step 3: ICES evaluates it

ICES contacts you if a document needs a certified translation.

Trueway handles step 2 for you: we take your request to the university or board and follow it up until it is sent to ICES. ICES does not accept documents from third-party transcript services, so the university or board sends them itself, never us. You apply to ICES yourself.

Other Canadian evaluation bodies

Which one you need depends on the province, the programme or the employer.

Not sure which one? See them compared on our Canada credential evaluation page.

Rules for Indian documents

  • University mark cards only

ICES needs the mark cards of each year from the university. Mark sheets issued by an affiliated college are not accepted.

  • Sent by the university or board itself

Since June 2022 ICES accepts no documents from third-party transcript services. Email must come from a university address, not Gmail or Yahoo.

  • Board-run nursing courses

If you studied under a board, such as the Punjab Nurses Registration Board, the board sends your documents to ICES.
